SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Ataraxia has a strong commitment to responsible corporate citizenship. Accordingly, we encourage our executives and staff and investee companies to participate in volunteer and philanthropic activities, and be involved in selecting a variety of organisations for financial support by Ataraxia. This not only aids the community but also the personal and professional development of Ataraxia executives and staff.

Some of the organisations which we support include:

Room to Read

www.roomtoread.org

Room to Read is a non-profit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education in the developing world. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, and founded on the belief that “World Change Starts With Educated Children,” the organization focuses on working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments. Room to Read develops literacy skills and the habit of reading among primary school children, and supports girls in completing secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.

Foundation of Goodness

The Foundation of Goodness is a not-for-profit NGO registered in both Sri Lanka and USA. It was set up by Kushil Gunasekera in 1999, to provide essential services to his ancestral village of Seenigama. Since then, he has been joined by a dedicated Board of Trustees and a committed team based in Seenigama and Colombo, all working together with villagers and donors to uplift the lives of rural communities in Sri Lanka.

Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities Limited

www.vacd.org.au

VACD’s goal is to enrich the lives of children with disabilities in the poorest province of Sri Lanka; by easing their physical and intellectual impairments and providing them with skills to lead independent lives because of the severe shortage of proper infrastructure and support facilities for them in that region.
